Riyadh’s STEAM Festival Champions Math and Technology Among Youth

RIYADH – The second edition of the STEAM Festival, titled “Math, the Language of Science,” recently concluded at the King Salman Science Oasis. Hosted in collaboration with the Ministry of Education, King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology, the National Institute for Educational Professional Development, and the Saudi National Commission for Education, Culture and Science—alongside support from the Riyadh Foundation for Science—the festival ignited curiosity in science and innovation.
Spanning a diverse lineup of 25 interactive pavilions, the event featured engaging dialogue sessions, live theater performances, and hands-on workshops centered on scientific exploration and creativity.
The festival attracted thousands of schoolchildren, supported by over 400 volunteers and more than 800 educators facilitating sessions and activities.
Participants embarked on a journey through the region’s rich scientific legacy—from Arab and Islamic contributions to modern mathematical applications and emerging technologies—encouraging them to envision future innovation paths. Expert-led panels explored key themes in mathematics, technology, and innovation, promising to cultivate a cutting-edge, STEM-savvy generation.
In a significant development, the festival also marked the launch of a national initiative to support STEAM-themed events across the Kingdom. Its aim is to kindle youth interest in STEM fields, foster innovation skills, and position Saudi Arabia to be globally competitive in science and technology.
