UNESCO and the Fondation L’Oréal are pleased to announce the launch of the Call for Nominations for the 2025 L’Oréal-UNESCO For Women in Science International Awards. This prestigious initiative aims to spotlight and reward the achievements of eminent women scientists who have made outstanding contributions to the advancement of science.
Honouring Excellence in Physical Sciences, Mathematics, and Computer Science
The 2025 edition will recognize five exceptional researchers, each representing one of the following regions:
- Africa and the Arab States
- Asia and the Pacific
- Europe
- Latin America and the Caribbean
- North America
Each laureate will be awarded €100,000 during the International Awards Ceremony, to be held in June 2025 in Paris (exact date to be confirmed). The recipients will be selected by an independent international jury composed of renowned experts in the field.
Eligibility Criteria
To qualify for nomination, candidates must:
- Be recognized for scientific excellence by the international scientific community,
- Be actively involved in scientific research,
- Work in the fields of Physical Sciences, Mathematics, or Computer Science.
Selection Criteria
Nominees will be evaluated based on:
- Their outstanding contribution to the advancement of science,
- The impact of their research on the current state of the field (e.g., publications, presentations, patents),
- Peer recognition through quality and number of publications,
- Their commitment to education, including teaching, mentoring, and alignment with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Multiple Nominations & Re-nominations
Institutions and individuals are encouraged to:
- Nominate multiple candidates,
- Re-nominate previous candidates by updating and resubmitting their files through the platform.
How to Submit a Nomination
Nominations must be submitted via the For Women in Science online platform. The platform provides step-by-step instructions for registering and uploading all necessary documentation.
Deadline for Submission
All nominations must be completed and submitted online by 8 July 2024 (France GMT/UTC +2h). Only fully completed nominations received through the official platform by the deadline will be considered.
