Levant Regional Young Talents Programme – 2026 Call for Applications

The L’Oréal–UNESCO For Women in Science Levant Regional Young Talents Programme (2026 edition) is now open for applications, offering a unique opportunity to support and recognize outstanding women scientists across the region.

About the Programme

Launched in 2014, the programme aims to promote the participation of young Arab women in scientific research across Iraq, Jordan, Lebanon, Palestine, and Syria. It recognizes excellence in both:

  • Life Sciences (biology, genetics, health sciences, biotechnology, etc.)
  • Physical Sciences (physics, chemistry, engineering, mathematics, information sciences, etc.)

Each year, the programme highlights exceptional researchers and supports their scientific careers through financial grants and regional visibility.

Fellowships and Funding

For the 2026 edition, six young women researchers will be awarded:

  • 3 Postdoctoral Fellowships
    €10,000 each
  • 3 PhD Fellowships
    €6,000 each

The grants are intended to support:

  • Scientific missions and research activities
  • Trainings and specialized courses
  • Participation in conferences and congresses
  • Purchase of scientific resources (software, publications, etc.)

Eligibility Criteria

Postdoctoral Researchers

Applicants must:

  • Hold a PhD in a relevant scientific field
  • Be under 45 years old
  • Have obtained their PhD within the last 10 years
  • Be actively conducting research in one of the eligible countries

PhD Students

Applicants must:

  • Hold Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in a relevant field
  • Be enrolled full-time in a PhD programme (2nd year or near thesis completion)
  • Be under 35 years old

Selection Criteria

Candidates will be evaluated based on:

  • Academic excellence and scientific achievements
  • Quality, relevance, and innovation of the research project
  • Ethical compliance in research practices
  • Potential impact and outcomes of the research
  • Ability to promote science and inspire younger generations

Commitments of Awardees

Selected candidates are expected to:

  • Continue their research project
  • Submit progress and financial reports within one year
  • Act as ambassadors for women in science
  • Participate in programme-related events
